The story of Standaard Boekhandel

Discover how Standaard Boekhandel optimized the efficiency of their business communication to facilitate smooth collaboration among employees and provide customers with the level of service expected from a modern company.

Since 2018, Standaard Boekhandel has been utilizing services from Dstny, a European provider of cloud-based business communication solutions. Initially, the company primarily relied on Dstny's connectivity solutions such as internet, MPLS, and cloud infrastructure. However, it became apparent that there was room for improvement in their business communication, which involved multiple parties.

The digital challenges

One pain point was the fixed-line telephony, which was managed by another partner. Standaard Boekhandel’s physical phone exchanges were located at two different physical locations. Whenever changes were required in the phone exchanges, they had to be individually requested from and implemented by the provider at both locations. This led to inefficiency and a high dependency on the vendor.

Mobile telephony services for Standaard Boekhandel were provided by a third party, causing them to lose track of the various separate subscriptions they had. Requesting new subscriptions, terminating old ones, and making changes to existing subscriptions consumed a significant amount of time. Additionally, calls received on the landline were not forwarded to mobile phones, and vice versa. As a result, the company was not always easily reachable, which became a significant issue, especially during times of hybrid work.

Our solutions

In August 2020, as the digitization of businesses accelerated, Standaard Boekhandel decided to reassess their business communication. They aimed to optimize management efficiency and improve customer accessibility. During their search for a partner to assist them in this endeavor, they didn't have to look far. They returned to Dstny, their existing partner.

Business Communications Platform

To address the aforementioned issues, Dstny offered a future-proof solution for business communication. Standaard Boekhandel’s employees now have access to an all-in-one cloud-based communication platform that can be easily operated through their mobile phones, laptops, or PCs. They can make calls and chat, and have access to all the functionalities of a phone exchange. Moreover, they can be reached on both their mobile and business numbers, on any desired device and at any given time, thanks to the integration of fixed-line and mobile telephony. If a call cannot be answered, it is automatically forwarded to a desired colleague, ensuring that customers always reach someone.

The IT team at Standaard Boekhandel also benefits from the improved efficiency. They can now make changes to the phone exchange settings themselves via the online portal (BCS), without relying on an external partner. Creating mobile subscriptions or making changes to them is also easily done through the customer portal, MyDstny. Lastly, they now have a single point of contact, Dstny, for all their business communication-related inquiries.

Dstny's solution enables our colleagues to collaborate at full speed in a simple and efficient manner, and provide our customers with the high-quality service they deserve.

Dstny was recently named 'Communications Innovator of the Year' for the second consecutive year. The company strives to make cloud-based business communication as simple and efficient as possible across various channels, whether for small or large enterprises. Their motto is 'Business Communications, Today and Tomorrow', with innovation playing a central role.
